WWE Backlash 2020 results: Kevin Owens helps Apollo Crews retain U.S. championship

@WWEUniverse

Rumors have swirled that Paul Heyman projects may be in some measure of trouble now that Vince McMahon has made some creative changes. Current United States Champion Apollo Crews was specifically named and, then his match against Andrade at Backlash tonight (June 14, 2020) in Orlando was moved to the Kickoff show.

Should we read into that?

A question for another time, perhaps.

The story to this match was the potential for outside interference. Angel Garza is still running with Andrade, after all, and that gave Crews someone else to worry about during their match. Sure enough, Garza got involved right when Apollo was going to win the match.

It’s a good thing Kevin Owens, who had come out for commentary and made clear he was hanging around to ensure things stayed fair, was there!

He took Garza out and Crews won shortly after.

Crews vs. Owens up next?
