When Apollo Crews was written out of the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match with an injury, WWE booked a “Last Chance” Gauntlet match to determine who would take his place. We were never told who the participants would be, just that it would take place on Monday Night Raw this week.
It started with Bobby Lashley pinning Titus O’Neil in short order after a spear.
Akira Tozawa came in next, and he was eliminated even faster.
Shelton Benjamin actually got some offense in but he never really stood a chance and was also taken out.
It looked like Lashley’s run would continue when Humberto Carrillo came out, but he got himself disqualified when he put his hands on an official.
Angel Garza was out next to reignite his issue with Carrillo and they were given a decent chunk of time. In a surprise, Carrillo scored a roll up victory.
That just led to another Zelina Vega disciple, Austin Theory, making his way out as the next participant. Then he was beaten too!
The big surprise came next: AJ Styles made his return. And, of course, he submitted Carrillo — after giving him a lot — to win the match and book his ticket to Money in the Bank.
