Before WrestleMania 36, King Corbin threw Elias off a balcony. The guitar-slinging Superstar managed to work the Showcase of the Immortals, but it was touch-and-go for a while.
As retribution for his loss at ‘Mania, Corbin struck again. This time, he crushed Elias larynx and broke two of his fingers.
The troubadour returned, and so did his injury troubles. Last night (May 29), somebody hit Elias with a dang car! He was taken by ambulance to a hospital - not a local medical facility, an actual hospital - and WWE today issued this update:
“WWE Digital has learned that Elias is in the hospital and has suffered broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle after last night’s hit-and-run attack.
After initially being apprehended, WWE Digital reported last night that Jeff Hardy was released from custody by the Orlando police after successfully passing the required sobriety tests. Hardy was absolved of the charges of public intoxication, driving under the influence, and the hit-and-run on Elias earlier tonight.”
Jokes about SmackDown’s version of Kenny from South Park (and I thought Ramblin’ Rabbit was already SmackDown’s version of Kenny from South Park... so maybe they’ll have to feud when Elias gets back like Sin Cara Azul vs. Sin Cara Negro) and WWE-approved jargon aside, it’s a little concerning that one of the things listed is a torn pec. That’s not a car accident-type of injury. And if it’s legit, it could mean Elias is out for several months.
Here’s hoping it’s all kayfabe, and creative is currently brainstorming their next over-the-top injury angle for Elias.
