There was another incident between Nia Jax and Kairi Sane (spoiler)

WWE.com

Nia Jax is set to face Asuka for the Raw women’s championship on June 14 at Backlash 2020. The storyline has included an angle where Jax attacked Asuka’s tag team partner, Kairi Sane.

According to Fightful, WWE taped a match for next week’s Raw between Jax and Sane, and it did not go well.

“In a match with Nia Jax and Kairi Sane, Kairi sustained a cut to her head outside of the ring.

The spot occurred outside near the stairs when Kairi was thrown and her head hit the corner of the stairs, opening her up. The match was paused and medical came out to take care of Kairi Sane, sealing the wound and bandaging her up. We were told that Kairi indicated that she was fine, and insisted on finishing up the match.

WWE would resume the match, which will have to be edited. Pretty quickly, Nia and Kairi Sane went to the finish.”

Here is what Dave Meltzer had to say about this latest incident, on Wrestling Observer Radio, after hearing from multiple people there:

“Everyone right now when I say Nia Jax’s name is probably visualizing five or six different incidents...hurting people and all that. Everyone who I talked to has said that no one is blaming Nia Jax. This was not Nia Jax’s fault, even though other things have been.

Basically, Kairi Sane got whipped into the ring steps...One person told me she was in control of her bump and she made it look too good. She was trying to avoid hitting her head on the steps. Her head hit the steps, she was bloodied up, she was knocked silly. She’s ok. Now, ok doesn’t necessarily mean she doesn’t have a concussion. I don’t know if she does or she doesn’t...One person said they thought that she was knocked out.”

My guess is that next week’s Raw won’t give much clarity to what happened here, because WWE will heavily edit the footage, or maybe even cut the match altogether if editing is too tricky. But we’ll have to wait and see what airs.

The above incident comes one month after a scary situation on Raw involving a botched buckle bomb between Jax and Sane. Jax responded to that one by calling out Ronda Rousey for being unsafe, and then changing her Twitter avatar to a “Danger” sign.

Sane was also knocked out in the main event of TLC 2019 in a tag team match with Asuka against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

It’s very concerning to see Sane suffering these injuries, especially in such a short time span. For now we’ll have to continue sending positive vibes to the Pirate Princess, and hope that WWE doctors and officials will put Sane’s health first when figuring out how to proceed going forward.
