Things have been pretty quiet on the Ronda Rousey front since the post-WrestleMania firestorm around the former Raw Women’s champ calling pro wrestling “fake” (among other things).
Now we’ve got a couple of folks who’ve been in the middle of past Rousey stories answering questions about her, and both Alexa Bliss and Triple H are talking about Ronda possibly returning to WWE.
TMZ Sports spoke to The Game, and here’s what he had to say about the controversy in April and a Rowdy return:
“I think Ronda is in a place in her personal life where she’s figuring some things out. The thing with Ronda is you never know what she is saying. Is she attacking the business really, or is she attacking the business because she knows that will light up fans that love the business? Absolutely, and so … you’d have to ask her.
“You put your promoter hat on for a minute, and you go, ‘Hey, Ronda Rousey wants to come work for me.’ Of course you want her. Of course we do, right? ... We still have a great relationship on everything [with Ronda] and when she is ready, absolutely [we’ll have her back].”
Meanwhile, in an interview published last week by the UK’s Express Sport, Bliss re-visited the flap, and spoke on what it would take to mend fences after all that went on last month:
“I think it’s definitely something that hurt especially because we did welcome her with such open arms and we did accept her to the locker room and catered to every need that she needed.
“To kind of say what we do is fake is not fair. It’s scripted, 100 per cent finish is scripted, but we tell people that. But don’t say what we do is fake because that’s just insulting.
“No one really talks about it anymore after that, it was kind of like we all said our piece and we moved on because we had other things to worry about. We didn’t really dwell on it for too long...
“I think she may have some apologizing to do because it was disrespectful and our company is built on respect.
“But I don’t see why she wouldn’t be welcome with open arms.”
Coincidental timing, or is something cooking? And would you as a fan welcome Rousey back, or even want to see her on Raw again?
