Becky Lynch has been open about being pleased that Asuka is the woman who took over as Raw women’s champion with her leaving to go be a mother, mostly making clear that it’s because she’s one of the best wrestlers in the world and she deserves to be champion off that alone. But there is another reason, one that hits close to home for Becky now.
Asuka is also a mother.
“Passing that championship onto Asuka meant a lot. She really, really deserves it. And another element that people missed, because it’s not really advertised, is that she’s a working mom.
“She’s proven that you can do it all. You can be a badass and go off and have a family, you can come in and still kick more ass, have a YouTube show and be entertaining as all hell. The fact that she was the person to take that title from me meant a lot to me.”
Perhaps that will serve as some measure of hope among Lynch fans that Becky could return to her previous spot as one of the top wrestlers in the world at some point in the future. It won’t be anytime soon, but there may be hope of it after all.
