The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (May 20) NXT and AEW television shows.
Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 701,000 viewers for a .26 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 592,000 viewers for a .13 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.
For AEW, this is an increase of about 47,000 viewers from the prior week, with a good rebound from last week’s 0.23 demo rating. For NXT, viewership decreased by about 12,000 viewers from the prior week, and the demo rating declined from last week’s 0.15.
AEW jumped up from 15th to 7th place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT fell from 46th to 53rd place.
AEW has always dominated NXT in that key demo rating, but this week’s number is an all-time low for NXT, to the point where it’s only half of AEW’s mark. NXT viewership fell below 600,000 for the first time since Apr. 1.
Wrestling numbers are down across the board with these empty arena shows during the coronavirus pandemic, and WWE in particular is really struggling to find a way to turn things around and get younger viewers interested in their Wednesday night brand.
