On Monday night (May 11), Seth Rollins reacted to his latest high-profile loss at Money in the Bank - and maybe the reveal of his impending fatherhood? - by trying to take out Rey Mysterio’s eye on the ring steps.
Today, WWE gave us an update on Rey:
“Rey Mysterio’s injury status is still listed as critical. Doctors cannot properly assess the damage to his retina until the swelling subsides, as Rey is currently at-risk for infection.
Mysterio suffered an eye injury when Seth Rollins grinded his face into the corner of the steel ring steps.”
Sounds pretty bad, which is clearly the effect they were going for. The attack, and the match it ended, led to Aleister Black kicking Murphy’s butt backstage.
We’ll see where it goes from there.
