Heading into this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, there were three spots remaining for the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches at this year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view on May 10. Two more spots have been filled, with just one left to be determined in the last chance Gauntlet match on Monday Night Raw next week.
First, Carmella used a distraction from Sonya Deville to score a victory over Mandy Rose. It’s clear WWE is going to get a lot of mileage out of this Rose-Deville feud, and that won’t include having either of the two work this particular match.
Then, Otis defeated Dolph Ziggler in a straight up singles match with no interference whatsoever. Commentary called it a major upset, even though Otis beat Ziggler at WrestleMania just a couple weeks ago.
The women’s field is now set (Asuka, Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Dana Brooke, Carmella, Lacey Evans) while the men’s side (Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black, Otis, TBA) still needs one.
This year, the Money in the Bank ladder matches will take place at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.
