AEW and NXT have a virtual tie in viewership

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (Apr. 8) NXT and AEW television shows.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 692,000 viewers for a .26 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 693,000 viewers for a .19 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is an increase of about 7,000 viewers from the prior week, with the slightest uptick from last week’s 0.25 demo rating. For NXT, viewership increased by about 103,000 viewers from the prior week, and the demo rating was up from last week’s 0.15.

AEW rose from 37th to 32nd place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT climbed up from 74th to 51st place.

NXT delivered a show with multiple TakeOver caliber matches, while Dynamite kicked off the TNT title tournament. The end result was NXT completely erasing their longtime viewership gap on AEW, while AEW remained steady at the previous week’s low numbers. AEW still has a big advantage in the demo rating.

For AEW, the numbers over the past two weeks provide some concerns that their viewership numbers might struggle to regain their pre-April form during the upcoming empty venue shows.
