In shoot interviews conducted after he debuted with AEW, Jon Moxley introduced the wrestling community to its new favorite way to mock any WWE creative decision they disliked. According to Mox, when Vince McMahon is particularly enamored with a script, or is trying to sell a wary performer on a bit, he’ll say the material is “such good shit!”
Since the former Dean Ambrose dropped that knowledge on us during his appearance on Talk Is Jericho, it’s been used by fans, companies, and even WWE itself.
About that last one, how did Moxley react when Firefly Fun House’s McBossman puppet used the line during Bray Wyatt and John Cena’s “match” at WrestleMania 36 earlier this month?
As he told The New York Post...
“I kind of popped for it, honestly. I thought it was pretty funny. But it’s like, I think I might have popularized that or made it into a pop culture thing, but everybody knows that’s what he says. He’s been saying that for decades. People who were probably doing Vince McMahon impressions have been saying ‘that’s good shit’ before I even got into wrestling.”
Of course he did.
It also covers why he wouldn’t be bothered by WWE monetizing the phrase via this shirt, because Mox doesn’t view it as “his”. It’s Vince’s saying, and that’s apparently been a running joke in the business for a while. Jon just delivered it to the fans.
What a guy. No wonder Renee Young puts up with him.
There’s lots more in Moxley’s interview with The Post. He’s mostly doing press for his movie Cagefighter, but he also touches on his goals as AEW World champ, his future in Japan, WWE’s recent releases, wrestling during the pandemic, and more. Check out the whole thing here.
