Velveteen Dream gets an unlikely ally in his war with Undisputed ERA

There was intrigue all over NXT this week.

The main event was supposed to be Velveteen Dream against Finn Bálor, but we learned right from the jump that The Prince was AWOL and his locker a crime scene.

General Manager William Regal called off the match, but when North American champion Keith Lee came to Dream’s aid when he was attacked by three members of Undisputed ERA, we had a new main event.

Along the way, we saw a teaser for Karrion Kross (a potential suspect in whatever happened to Finn), and learned that Lee will defend his title against Damian Priest next week.

Priest led to the second of three changes to the main event, as he attacked the Limitless One early in Lee & Dream’s match with Adam Cole & Roderick Strong. Multiple shots to the throat with a nightstick left Velveteen to fight alone.

Dream insisted on continuing, but the numbers game looked like too much for him. Until he got an unexpected, and creepy, ally in the form of Dexter Lumis.

For whatever reason, Lumis was treated like a legal man. He also cleared house with a hot tag, even taking out Bobby Fish (who was back out despite being ejected earlier, because what the **** at that point, right?). That left Cole alone with Dream, who nailed the Purple Rainmaker and now has a really good argument for that NXT title shot he’s been angling for.

Where’s Bálor? What happened to him? Is Lumis a babyface? Are he and Dream working together? DOESN’T ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE RULES ANYMORE!?!?!
