The rumors about Vince McMahon’s desire to turn The Revival into a comedy act went around for a while prior to Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson (now Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood)’s WWE release.
Over the weekend, some designs that were allegedly part of those plans made their way around the wrestling web. They showed a few possible new looks the Top Guys might have shown if the comedy push had gone forward. And... HOO BOY... they are something else.
My first instinct was to call bullshit. Partly because they came from an outlet, Bodyslam.net, that once (but to their credit, no longer) featured work from Brad Shepard. But mostly because they look like they were done in MS Paint.
But Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, who’s right as often as any reporter in this crazy business, says they’re real and... HOO BOY... check ‘em out if you haven’t already.
I mean... I guess I see where these might be funny?
I probably laughed the first time I saw Too Cool, which seems to be a key influence here. But I think mostly I’d just sit in slack-jawed silence, then wonder for the umpteenth time what I was doing with my life. At some point I’d ask what the... I guess those are drum sticks? - are for. But other than that, I’ve got nothing.
HOO BOY.
