This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw saw Drew McIntyre open the show by saying anyone who deserves a shot at the WWE championship will get it. Andrade showed up with a solid angle as to why he should be challenging the current champion — he beat him for the NXT championship in the past — but wasn’t actually booked in a title match.
They still headlined the show, but it was a stopgap to get to this:

You might wonder how Rollins can lose his match against Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 36 and immediately go right into a feud with the WWE champion, and it would be fair to do so. After looking at the roster, it may not be a choice so much as a lack of options. McIntyre is a babyface and there are no strong heels at the top to oppose him.
The only headlining acts who are working heel right now are Rollins, Randy Orton (who just lost to Edge at WrestleMania), and AJ Styles (who was just buried alive by Undertaker at WrestleMania).
Here we go then.
