WWE & ESPN’s deal to air three old WrestleManias during the pandemic-induced live sports shutdown is off to a good start.
The numbers for Sun., Mar. 22’s airing of WrestleMania 30 are in, and Showbuzz Daily reports that 837,000 tuned in for an edited version of the 2014 Showcase of the Immortals. It was ESPN’s most viewed program of the day.
Fans desperate for sports entertainment and/or interested in revisiting Daniel Bryan’s big night in New Orleans gave the three-and-half hour show a .31 rating among 18 - 49 year olds; 30th among cable originals in that category on Sunday. WrestleMania 30 drew a .19 among 18 - 34 year olds.
Promising numbers. We’ll see how they do this weekend with WrestleMania 32.
