WWE seemed to be changing directions for a couple WrestleMania 36 programs yesterday (Mar. 23), including with the line-up for a match they officially announced the Friday before.
Dana Brooke was one of five wrestlers set to challenge Bayley for her SmackDown Women’s title. Not only was she listed among the Six-Pack Challenge participants, but she & Bayley were tweeting about her involvement in the match over the weekend. She was removed from a match graphic on WWE.com yesterday, prompting speculation about her status.
Rey Mysterio, along with Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo, was involved in a program with United States champion Andrade. He pinned Andrade on the Mar. 16 closed set edition of Raw, and looked headed for a singles or multi-man title match. Instead, last night Garza & Andrade were announced for a shot at Street Profits’ Tag titles at ‘Mania.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer on the Mar. 24 Wrestling Observer Radio, Brooke & Mysterio were pulled because they are being quarantined. It has not been confirmed that either are displaying symptoms of the novel coronavirus which has much of the world on lockdown, but WWE is understandably taking every precaution.
The company hasn’t confirmed or commented on the report, including to name a replacement for Brooke or change the six-way match. Dana did post an Instagram video of a home workout yesterday.
It’s also been reported WWE is keeping Superstars who are filming WrestleMania 36 matches at one hotel in an effort to limit their exposure and avoid any more changes to this week’s taping for the April 4 - 5 event.
