WrestleMania 36 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the one and only WrestleMania 36 event set to take place on Sun., April 5, 2020, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. That is, of course, assuming the event goes ahead as planned, which is no sure thing. In fact, it seems entirely likely it won’t. For now, though, it’s still scheduled.

We’re three weeks from the set showtime, and the card currently looks like this:

  • Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Drew McIntyre (WWE championship)

McIntyre won the Royal Rumble to set up this match. Lesnar defended his title against Ricochet at Super ShowDown to ensure this would be the match.

  • Goldberg (c) vs. Roman Reigns (Universal championship)

Goldberg won the title from Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown and Reigns just came out and said he was next. Here we are.

  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Shayna Baszler (Raw women’s championship)

Baszler showed up on Raw one night and bit Lynch enough to draw blood. Then, she won an Elimination Chamber match in dominating fashion to ensure she would wrestle for the title on this show.

  • Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (NXT women’s championship)

Flair won the Royal Rumble and acted like she didn’t know which title she wanted to challenge for. Ripley showed up on her own and basically inserted herself into the picture. That’s when Flair decided to go for it.

  • John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

The setup for this match was awful, in that Cena came back to say he didn’t think he should wrestle because it’s time to showcase the future and then immediately changed his mind when The Fiend showed up and pointed at the WrestleMania sign. They’ve since made it into something of a good story with Wyatt blaming Cena for his personal and professional failures after WrestleMania 30.

That’s all that’s official so far, but again, there is every reason to think the show won’t go on.

Stay tuned.
