Two more women qualify for TakeOver’s #1 contender ladder match

Six wrestlers will compete in the ladder match set for TakeOver: Tampa on Sat., April 4 at Amalie Arena. The winner will be the #1 contender for the NXT Women’s title after WrestleMania 36.

Last week, Chelsea Green earned a spot with a win over Shotzi Blackheart. On Mar. 11, two more punched their ticket to the dance.

First it was Mia Yim, courtesy of a pinfall win over Dakota Kai. Kai’s associated Raquel Gonzalez tried to help the Kiwi steal another one, but her plan backfired. Gonzalez did inflict some punishment on the HBIC after her win, though.

Then, the woman Kai did defeat in a steel cage match last week secured a spot. Tegan Nox fought out of.a Deonna Purrazzo submission attempt to hit the Shiniest Wizard.

Nothing else is set for TakeOver, although we definitely appear headed toward an Adam Cole/Velveteen Dream NXT title match and Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa.

A multi-person match for Keith Lee’s NXT championship seems likely, as does The BroserWeights vs. Grizzled Young Veterans for the Tag belts. Finn Balor vs. WALTER is happening somewhere, but they may hold that for the NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin.

All of this pending current affairs, of course.

Stay tuned.
