WWE wasted no time getting to the goods on Friday Night SmackDown this week, eager to establish the program that will carry the blue brand into WrestleMania 36.
Goldberg, the new Universal champion, hit the scene to offer the kind of promo he should always be cutting: “It’s not about who was last, it’s about who’s next.”
Cue Roman Reigns.
“I’m next.”
And that was that.
Really, that’s all it needed to be. The announcers talked like it wasn’t set in stone right then, and maybe that’s because WWE will book something for Elimination Chamber to stand as an obstacle in the way of it, but it’s clear now the reports were accurate and this is the big money match we’re getting for the biggest show of the year.

That’s two title shots in a row granted via the challenger simply saying “I’m next.”
