If there wasn’t already intrigue surrounding Bray Wyatt defending the Universal championship against Goldberg at WWE Super ShowDown today (Thurs., Feb. 27, 2020) in Saudi Arabia, reports got around just a night before the show that Vince McMahon had made some changes to his plans for the WrestleMania 36 card. Those changes directly affected both of these two, assuming the reports are accurate.
Welp.
The match went about like matches involving The Fiend do. He got his ass kicked — Goldberg hit multiple spears, then a jackhammer, then he pinned him to win the Universal championship. The Fiend jumped up shortly after as if he wasn’t hurt at all, then, once again, ran away under cover of darkness.
Baffling for fans of Wyatt, but right in line with the kind of booking we’ve seen for Goldberg throughout his career.
Now, just over a month away from WrestleMania, Goldberg is Universal champion.
