WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR FEB. 21

As my bones grew they did hurt, they hurt really bad. I tried hard to have a father, but instead I had a dad. I just want you to know that I don’t hate you anymore. There is nothing I could say, that I haven’t thought before, so I’m just gonna liveblog this here pro wrestling show, folks.

The show opens with a hype video for Goldberg’s appearance tonight.

Thence to the intro video.

The Usos make their entrance and get on the mic.

They admit they couldn’t be here last week, but it was hard to be missed because John Morrison couldn’t keep their name out his mouth, but that was last week, and this week they’re here and they’re having a superkick party and everyone’s invited. But guess what, they aren’t gonna be alone, because who are gonna team with them? Who? Who?

Enter the New Day.

The Usos continue, saying they got the two most dominant tag teams on SmackDown right here, they just hope New Day are keeping the titles warm for them. New Day put the Usos over as future Hall of Famers, high-flying, superkick-throwing, haka-dancing, six-time tag team champions. Which is incredible, but it’s one less than your boys, which makes them better than the Usos.

At this point they square up real tight and laugh it off, but the Usos transition it into a challenge for after they beat Miz and Morrison in Saudi Arabia next week.

Enter Miz and Morrison.

Miz talks about both teams catchy chants and they draft a “Miz and Morrison! Hey hey! Ho ho!” chant that goes over like a lead balloon. John Morrison says there are winners and losers in life, and Miz claims they’re the best tag team champions of the 21st century. John introduces their partners for tonight, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

The babyfaces suggest fighting now, the heels surround the ring and we go to break before the match can start.

Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, Robert Roode, & the Miz vs. New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) & the Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso)

Match in progress, Jey tags out to Kingston and they work Ziggler over. Back body drop to fend Roode off, Usos tagging through to keep the pressure up. Kofi legal again, Morrison low bridges him and Miz boots him on the floor! Back inside, heels with quick tags, working Kingston over at length to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Ziggler in control on Kingston but he fights out and tags are made! E in hot, overhead belly-to-belly suplexes for Miz, going for Big Ending, the A-Lister slips out and tags Morrison in. Big looking for the spear, John knees him in the face to cut him off! Big Rock Bottom out of the corner... NOPE! We get a weird static cut-in, Morrison with the springboard roundhouse, running knee, standing shooting star... KOFI MAKES THE SAVE!

Miz in, Kingston fends him off but John hits a tornillo on him! Jey legal on Roode, Robert with an O’Connor roll, reversed to a schoolboy, only two! Spinebuster / zig zag combo... JIMMY BREAKS IT UP! Superkicks for everybody, Robert with the Glorious DDT, Jey misses an enzuigiri but reverses the DDT aimed at him...

New Day & the Usos win by pinfall with a superkick from Jey Uso on Robert Roode.

Daniel Bryan is walking backstage and he runs into Drew Gulak.

Gulak has said he’s found some holes in Bryan’s game and he’s got some advice for him. He starts explaining how he came to his conclusions when Heath Slater turns around to complain about losing his match last week. Dan offers him a rematch and suggests Drew coach Heath, if he’s identified all these holes in his game.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, commentary tosses to a recap of Otis Dozovic’s disastrous date with Mandy Rose last week.

Cut to Mandy talking with Sonya Deville when Tucker Knight rolls up. He tells her she hurt his boy and she wants to explain, but he just wants to say what he has to say. He runs her down from bringing Dolph Ziggler along and says Dozer couldn’t even leave the hotel room tonight, and she says she didn’t invited Dolph until Otis was running late.

Tucker isn’t buying it and says he was a fool to ever think she had good intentions. Sonya tries to paint a bright side picture of the whole situation, saying Dolph is more her type anyway.

Lacey Evans is interviewed backstage.

She says she doesn’t take any loss lightly and runs Bayley and Sasha Banks down as bullies. She defends her use of the term “nasties” but says she’s turned a corner seeing how they treated the woman’s division, and her grandfather used to say if your pen stinks, you’re probably the pig, so she’s trying to start a new chapter.

Crew members are loading the ringside area with instruments for a Symphony of Destruction Match.

Back from commercial we get a recap of the feud that lead us to this match.

Elias makes his entrance and does his usual guitar-playing spiel in the entry before launching into a song about how he and Braun Strowman are gonna win this match.

Braun Strowman & Elias vs. The Artists (Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura) (Symphony of Destruction Match)

Nakamura and Elias to start, the King of Strong Style lighting him up with elbows but the Drifter nails him with a back elbow, whip across, hip toss, smashing him in the head with a tamborine to remind us that this is a gimmick match. Shinsuke with knee lifts, Elias ducks a lariat and pastes him with a knee that knocks him to the floor. Elias goes and gets a bass drum but Cesaro makes the save!

Strowman takes the drum and smashes it over Cesaro’s head! Zayn attacks the monster from behind with the ukulele to no effect! Braun gives chase and Nakamura cuts him off to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Cesaro gets a cowbell out of an instrument case but Elais gets it from him and clubs him with it! Sami blocking the suplex to the floor and Nakamura blasts the Drifter off the apron and through a table! BRAUN POUNCES CESARO INTO THE APRON! Throwing Shinsuke into the remnant of the table, whipping Cesaro over the announce table!

Goozle on the Swiss Superman and he chokeslams him into the apron! Strowman goes for a double bass but Zayn clocks him over the back with a keyboard and directs his boys to double-team the monster... DOUBLE SUPLEX THROUGH THE BASS GETS A NEARFALL! Elias gets a tuba but Shinsuke cuts him off, using the beaters for a gong as nunchuks and dropping him with a boot!

Lining the Drifter up... BUT ELIAS SIDESTEPS AND NAKAMURA HITS KINSHASA ON THE GONG! Cesaro with a guitar, Elias gets it from him... EL KABONG! Putting the Swiss Superman on a table at ringside, the Drifter heads up top. Braun throws Shinsuke over the announce table, atop it, he’s got him... ELBOW DROP THROUGH THE TABLE! RUNNING POWERSLAM INTO A PIANO! COVERS! IT’S OVER!

Braun Strowman & Elias win by pinfall with a running powerslam through a damn piano from Strowman on Shinsuke Nakamura.

We get a video package recapping the build to Baron Corbin vs. Roman Reigns next week.

Baron Corbin is interviewed backstage.

He says it’s the end of Roman Reigns and the facade that he’s a locker room leader and the face of WWE. He talks about how Roman’s never beat him one-on-one and he’s gonna beat him in Saudi Arabia.

Carmella and Naomi are shown getting ready for their #1 contender’s match and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Alexa Bliss makes her entrance and takes her seat as the host of A Moment of Bliss.

She gives us a rundown of this year’s WWE Hall of Fame inductees as they have currently been announced— Dave Batista and the nWo (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan, and Sean Waltman)— before introducing our third inductee... the Bella Twins!

Brie and Nikki take their seats and talk about how special this is to them and how grateful they are to the Bella Army. They put Bliss over as the first woman to run a talk show in WWE and how the women’s roster keeps raising the bar. They talk about both being pregnant and celebrate their induction.

Enter Daniel Bryan, with Birdie Joe in tow! They share a nice little moment and we go to break.

Daniel Bryan vs. Heath Slater

Slater shoving at Bryan as we find out that Drew Gulak has joined commentary for the match. Dan going after him, Heath pulls him out and slams his knee against the apron! Blood in the water, back inside, posting his knee into the mat while Drew cheers him on. Dan with right hands, whip reversed, Slater has the momentum but he goes up top over Gulak’s protestations and misses the dive!

American Dragon in with the chest kicks, buzzsaw finale connects but Heath is alive and grabs a schoolboy while he’s taunting! Only two, Bryan lines him up...

Daniel Bryan wins by pinfall with the Busaiku Knee.

More digital break-ins while Mandy Rose waits.

Dolph Ziggler rolls up and offers her a ride, which she accepts, and Otis Dozovic steps out from behind some road cases, all sad.

Naomi makes her entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial we get a Sheamus promo from the dark room talking about how bad he beat Chad Gable and Apollo Crews last week and declaring himself for the Elimination Chamber.

Apollo is shown walking backstage when Gable rolls up. He talks about how embarrassing it was and what a bully Sheamus is, but he’s not backing down and neither should Crews. Apollo says he doesn’t need a pep talk, and they’ll both handle this their own way.

Carmella vs. Naomi (WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match)

Naomi with a side headlock, takeover, escape, back to the side headlock takeover! Reversed, off the ropes, spinning wheel kick, sliding kick but Carmella dodges it. Naomi with the front chancery, backslide, only two, whip, up and over mule kick and a sliding lariat gets her two more. Full nelson bomb, Mella reverses into a pin for one, Naomi with a bodyscissors pin, again just a nearfall.

Carmella posts to her feet, short-arm knee, whip across, satallite tijeras on Naomi! Throwing her to the floor, off the ropes, Naomi counters the dive with an upkick from the apron! Springboard crossbody, still just two, Bayley gets up from ringside and the distraction gets Mella a nearfall. Pacing out after Nomai, referee Jessika Carr throws the champion out!

Carmella throws a dive and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Naomi hits a backbreaker and gets some separation. Laying kicks in, Speedball style, Carmella shoves her down to counter and it’s only good for two. Drawing her up, jawing at her, trading forearms, Mella with a mat slam counter and another two count. Jawbreaker, Naomi ducks a lariat, springboard roundhouse, Mella dodges but she’s dizzy as she goes to the floor and Naomi hits a tornillo!

Back inside, cover for two, Carmella sidesteps the charge and heads up top, diving crossbody... NOPE! Snapping Naomi’s neck over the top rope but she composes herself, sunset flip for two! Carmella with a schoolboy for two, Naomi returns the favor, same result, single leg into a jackknife but Mella reverses to the Code of Silence! Naomi crawling, straining... AND SHE GETS THE ROPES!

Missing kicks, Naomi connects, off the ropes... REAR VIEW FOR TWO! Dragging Carmella over, headed up top but she cuts her off, basement superkick, hook the leg... STILL NO! Looking for the pop-up stomp, she gets a knee, up top... diving blockbuster! Back up top...

Naomi wins by pinfall with the split-legged moonsault to become #1 contender to the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

We see the security guarding Goldberg’s locker room to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Goldberg makes his entrance.

He says it’s been a long time since he was in a ring on SmackDown, so he’s gonna take his sweet time and enjoy this. He calls the Fiend out and says he’s ready, and that gets Firefly Fun House up on the screen.

Bray Wyatt is doing a little bit of remodeling with a child’s tool set and Bill says he ain’t here to play games or talk, he’s here to take his title. Wyatt says he doesn’t know him and he ain’t taking anything from him, so he’d like to get to know him better. He introduces Goldberg to all the Fun House pals, and threatens Rambling Rabbit with the mallet when he tells Bill he loves him.

Wyatt says he knows somebody who’s dying to meet Goldberg, and the lights go down.

When they come back up, Bill calls out that he’s right behind him, and turns to meet him... SPEAR! Lying in wait as Bray rises, but Wyatt doesn’t get past all fours until the lights go out again...

...and my feed goes down for a moment, and when it comes back Goldberg is up in the turnbuckles posing, so I suppose the Fiend just went and disappeared.

That’s the show, folks.
