AEW beats NXT in the ratings again, but sees a large drop in viewers

Following last week’s great showing on Dynamite, AEW was surely optimistic for more of the same occurring this week in the ratings and viewership numbers. But that’s not exactly how things played out.

Per Showbuzz Daily, AEW netted 817,000 viewers for a .30 rating point in the 18-49 demographic. NXT checked in with 757,000 viewers for a .24 rating point in the same 18-49 demo.

For AEW, this is a drop of about 111,000 viewers from the prior week, with a decrease from last week’s 0.34 demo rating. For NXT, viewership dropped by about 13,000 viewers from the prior week, but the demo rating slightly rose from last week’s 0.22.

AEW increased from 11th to 10th place in the demo rating for the night, while NXT moved up from 34th place to 21st place.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo:

Here’s a breakdown of NXT’s audience and ratings share of the same demographic:

NXT’s results are confined to a narrow range in recent weeks, whereas AEW is seeing larger fluctuations in viewership numbers. AEW’s demo rating this week was the lowest it’s been since Dec. 18, though it still handily eclipsed NXT’s mark.

Total viewership for Wednesday night checked in at 1,574,000 pro wrestling fans.
