WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR DEC. 7
They pulled in just behind the bridge, he lays her down, he frowns. “Gee my life’s a funny thing, am I still too young?” He kissed her then and there, but me? I’ve got to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you folks.
The show opens with a memorial graphic for Pat Patterson and, again, the roster and Vincent Kennedy McMahon arranged on the stage, albeit without the legends from Friday.
And again, we get a ten bell salute.
Thence to the intro video.
Randy Orton makes his entrance and we get a recap of last week’s segment between him, Alexa Bliss, and the Fiend.
Orton gets on the mic and says an ordinary man would tremble at the thought of facing the Fiend but he’s no ordinary man. He smashed his moral compass years ago and there’s no boundary he won’t cross. He says he’s gonna stare the devil in the eyes and let him know the most evil son of a bitch on planet Earth has come home, but in the meantime he’ll be knocking on that Funhouse door, waiting and wondering just exactly who is going to let him in.
Bray appears on the tron from the Firefly Fun House. He says Alexa would be here but Randy was so mean to her last week that she’s staying home, and Orton warns him not to play games, which sets Wyatt off into a game called Let’s Get Randy! Mercy the Buzzard, Huskus Pig, and Rambling Rabbit are playing, and the prize is a brand new cruxis, as well as the rotting corpse of Friendship Frog, all valued at $49.95!
None of the puppet pals has the right answer to the question of how to punish Randy Orton, but He always has the right answer.
This leads Randy to ask Bray for a match and he accepts.
We get a recap of all the business with Asuka & Lana teaming against Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler.
Asuka makes her entrance, she’ll be in action after the break.
Back from commercial, we get a round of social media tributes to Pat Patterson.
Nia Jax is in Gorilla giving Shayna Baszler a pep talk about fighting Asuka tonight and how they’re gonna make Lana’s boobs be on her back. I dunno what that’s all about.
Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler
Circling, collar and elbow, Asuka with a heel trip into an ankle lock, Baszler fights out, roll through with a leg pick of her own, the Empress blocks it so Shayna applies a heel hook! Asuka counters with one of her own, Baszler reverses, the Empress reverses to an ankle lock with the grapevine! A back suplex counters it!
Action to the floor, Asuka goes face-first into the announce table and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Baszler is in control and working Asuka’s arm over. Laying chest kicks in, Asuka fires up and hits the Codebreaker! Running hip attack blocked with a boot but the Empress gets a flying armbar! Shayna keeps her hands clasped and rolls back, countering to the Kirifuda Clutch! Asuka counters to a pin, only two!
Looking for the Asuka Lock, but Nia Jax runs interference by running Lana over on the floor! Lana slips out and puts Jax into the steel steps! Nia hosses her up in a powerbomb lift but Lana Frankensteiners her into the announce table! Lana runs away to the relative safety of the entry ramp, Asuka thinks fast...
Asuka wins by pinfall with a folding press.
She and Lana celebrate on the ramp without either of them being put through a table.
Commentary hypes up Bobby Lashley vs. Jeff Hardy as well as Kofi Kingston vs. Shelton Benjamin for later tonight.
We see the Hurt Business walking backstage and berating a poor dude on the crew for being in their way.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a recap of the events that lead to AJ Styles becoming #1 contender and the abortive alliance between him, the Miz, and John Morrison.
Backstage, Ricochet and Dana Brooke are chatting about how to handle Retribution when Matt Riddle rolls up carrying a box of... sigh... Bronutts.
An interview rolls up to ask Ricochet why he’s dropping the lone wolf act and teaming with Dana, and he says Retribution understand there’s strength in numbers, so they’re gonna show SLAPJACK and Reckoning a thing or two. Dana talks about not letting anyone disrespect her, and tonight’s about teamwork, but she’s gonna give Reckoning a receipt for her black eye.
Retribution make their entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Retribution get an inset promo about how they’re going to end Ricochet and Dana Brooke tonight.
Dana Brooke & Ricochet vs. Retribution (Reckoning & SLAPJACK) (Mixed Tag Team Match)
Brooke and Reckoning to start, trading heavy palm strikes and mounted punches with abandon! Yim with a kick to the midsection, whip across, big boot, Dana gets an enzuigiri and makes the tag! Backstage, Keith Lee runs into Sheamus to warn him that nobody buys his good guy routine and we all know it’s a matter of time until he stabs Drew McIntyre in the back.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we’re informed that Becky Lynch has given birth to a child named Roux.
The Miz and John Morrison are in the ring and the A-Lister welcomes us to MizTV before introducing his guest, AJ Styles, who is accompanied by his Big Buddy, Omos.
They interview AJ, who admits that facing Drew McIntyre for the first time is challenging, but he’s gonna wrap a steel chair around his neck, put him through a table, knock him out cold and climb a ladder to grab the title and regain his spot at the top of the mountain.
Miz and Morrison make fun of Drew and Sheamus, and Sheamus makes his entrance, congratulating them on getting their accents right. But if they were actually in a pub in Dublin, he’d nail their faces to the bar, kick their dopey faces off, and sling ‘em out with the slops into the gutter. The heels do a math lesson, pointing out that Sheamus is outnumbered currently.
But, he says, they’re not exactly right, because Drew McIntyre is here.
He comes down and says no matter the odds, he always gets the same result— he remains the WWE Champion. They discuss whether or not Miz has balls, so that’s great.
Miz and Morrison attack, but AJ and his Big Buddy, Omos, hang back and let Drew and Sheamus destroy them.
A recap of our opening segment follows, because Raw is three hours long. (Three hours long.)
New Day make their entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, we get another round of Pat Patterson tributes from social media.

Cedric Alexander vs. Kofi Kingston
Back from commercial, the match is joined in progress and Cedric is pushing Kofi around the ring. He kicks Kingston to the floor and follows out after, beating him down and hoisting him back inside for a two count. Targeting the leg, an Achilles lock, DDTing the leg, Kofi with upkicks to get some separation and he hobbles himself back up on one foot.
Desperation stomp in the corner when Alexander charges in, back on his feet, throwing chops, float over into a small package for two! Looking for SOS, it kind of turns into a short one-arm powerbomb instead and it’s only good for two! Basement dropkick, taking Kingston’s knee out, twisting brainbuster... NO GOOD!
Wrenching Kofi’s leg in the corner, up top, jockeying for position, Kingston drops him with an avalanche gourdbuster, shakes some life into his leg, double stomp comes up empty! Alexander is ready...

Back from commercial, Sheamus is beating the Miz down in the corner, he pops up to the second for a Ray Stevens knee drop... NOPE! Drew comes in, double suplex on the A-Lister, the babyfaces keep rolling with a heat segment until at long last Styles tags in. Quick tags as our heels work the WWE Champion over, but Sheamus comes in and turns the tide.
Beats of the Bodhran on Miz, calling AJ out, demanding him do something, hoisting the A-Lister up for a Finlay Roll! Hip toss puts Morrison back in the ring, but the Miz rakes his eyes and chop blocks the Celtic Warrior! Working Sheamus over, he blocks a chest kick from Johnny Raw but gets caught by a gator roll and AJ tags back in!
Stomping away, blocking the tag, roll through into the Calf Killer! Sheamus crawling, desperate, and Drew McIntyre breaks the submission up! Styles jaws at him, the Celtic Warrior is back on his feet and reverses the Styles Clash into White Noise! The path clear, reaching, crawling, desperate... TAGS MADE!

And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get some hype for tonight’s edition of Raw Talk.
Lana is freaking out backstage about having to wrestle Nia Jax last week and says she might be able to win the tag titles with Asuka but alone? Asuka shouts at her in Japanese and gives her some affirmations to repeat about being able to beat Nia. She’s all hyped up but Nia rolls up and the fear returns.
Sheamus is pacing backstage, clearly upset about kicking his pal in the face.
Charly Caruso rolls up and he says he knows Drew McIntyre is gonna come out here and try to kick his ass, and he’s gonna kick his, but what happened out there was not intentional.
Here comes Drew, and the two of them square up. McIntyre says he knows it wasn’t intentional but Sheamus knows exactly what’s about to happen, and they kind of vibrate at each other as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus are brawling backstage as the rest of the roster looks on.
Road agent Pat Buck manages to separate them briefly but they tear his suit off him and double powerbomb him through a table!
They seem to feel their issue is settled and leave together as former ROH World Champion Jamie Noble and five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce check on Buck.
Jeff Hardy is rolling his neck in Gorilla when Matt Riddle and his Bronutts roll up.
He pitches Hardy on forming a tag team, the Hardy Broz. Jeff says he kinda likes it and Matt suggests their finisher be Broetry in Motion.
Bobby Lashley vs. Jeff Hardy
Lashley with a waistlock takedown out the gates, smashing Hardy’s face into the turnbuckles, taking him into the next corner for back elbows and a stomp to the back when Jeff has trouble getting up. Clubbing away, choke in the corner, right hands, Hardy fires up, off the ropes, Bob catches him with the Yokosuka Cutter but Jeff lands on his feet!

The Manhattan Drop > double leg drop > basement dropkick > big splash sequence gets two! MVP calling for a finish, leg-feed mule kick from Hardy, up top... WHISPER IN THE WIND!
Only a nearfall, Lashley hits the reverse STO for two of his own, Hardy fights back, Twist of Fate connects! The shirt is off, Jeff heads up top, nobody home and Bob hits the spear as Hardy tries to recover! Lying in wait, the Hurt Lock is on! It’s over!
Bobby Lashley wins by submission with the Hurt Lock.
Post-match, Riddle helps Hardy out while MVP eats a Bronutt.
We go backstage with Randy Orton as someone knocks on his door.
He answers it and there doesn’t appear to be anyone there, but after he closes the door he hears a sproing and turns around to see Rambling Rabbit.
Rabbit says Bray Wyatt can’t wait to see Orton in the ring, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get another round of social media remembrances for Pat Patterson.
Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
Circling, collar and elbow, shot off, shoulder block and Wyatt stands tall, giggling. Uppercuts send him to the floor, Orton smashes his face into the announce table but Bray blocks the back suplex and hits one of his own! Crawling, smiling, Bray knocks I think Byron Saxton over the barricade and takes his headset to announce the break.

Randy off the ropes, mat slam connects, back to the reverse chinlock! Wyatt gets out and drops him with a lariat! Hanging upside down in the corner, right hands, Atomic Drop! Off the ropes, corner body avalanche, freight train crossbody! Kick to the gut, DDT connects... NO GOOD! Sister Abigail blocked, back-to-back backbreaker... NOPE!
Garvin Stomp, a headbutt, chasing him to the floor for the back suplex into the announce table! Back inside, Bray is a bit faster, Sister Abigail blocked, thumb to the eye, hanging DDT connects! Going to that special place... but the lights go down Fiend-wise! But Orton is faster and hits the RKO!
The lights are all the way down, no count, no finish is announced.
The red lights on, Randy wakes up to see the Fiend there underneath him and he locks the Mandible Claw on!
The Fiend chokes the Viper out.
That’s the show, folks.
