Tomorrow’s Christmas night episode of SmackDown on FOX will air following an NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. WWE is loading up the SmackDown card to take advantage of this favorable lead-in audience.
The show has already been taped, and you can catch up on (and discuss) those spoilers here. But for those of us who prefer to dwell in spoiler-free zones, WWE has revealed some new information about the broadcast.
We knew that Asuka and Charlotte Flair were set to defend their newly won Women’s tag team championships on SmackDown. Now we know that it will be a Triple Threat Elimination tag team match against Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair, as well as Bayley & Carmella.
WWE also announced that Daniel Bryan will battle Jey Uso in a singles match. The bad blood between these two men has been simmering for at least a month.
A Lumberjack match stipulation was tacked onto Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental championship defense against Big E.
Finally, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal championship against Kevin Owens inside a Steel Cage.
With the NFL lead-in and a loaded card like this, it looks like I may have jumped the gun in assuming that SmackDown’s viewership will take a hit this week due to the holiday.
