The unintentionally hilarious rollout of Lars Sullivan continued on SmackDown last night (Nov. 6). Last week he was interviewed by Corey Graves while wearing a shirt. This week, to really turn up the Heidenreich vibes, he took his shirt off and talked to Michael Cole.
And seriously, I wonder if maybe they aren’t going for intentionally hilarious at this point. Because I’m not sure how you put the above promo on television and don’t expect laughter to ensue...
“I learned to bully whoever I want. I could make them do whatever I want. I could make them eat whatever I want - Dirt. Glass. Bugs. I could do whatever I want. I could do this [yells in Cole’s face]. Now that’s intimidation! That’s bullying! And I love it.”
There’s more, but you get the idea.
Just like last Friday, Lars talked about how he was bullied as a kid to explain why he’s now pro-bullying. There really could be something to the idea of a wrestling version of Carrie, only with ass-kicking instead of telekinesis. But the script (you’d think Sullivan’s story would involve him being made to eat dirt and bugs to set-up his using that as a threat, but it doesn’t) and his delivery make this cringe comedy instead of an eerie backstory for a heel.
Agree? Disagree? Let us know. We’ll be over here worrying about how many bugs he’s gonna make Chad Gable eat next week.
