When Asuka was awarded the Raw women’s championship for winning the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match back in May, thanks to Becky Lynch’s pregnancy, the only person who has separated her from that title since then has been Sasha Banks. She lost the title to Banks via count out on an episode of Monday Night Raw before winning it back at SummerSlam.
Tonight (Sun., Nov. 22, 2020) at Survivor Series at the ThunderDome at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Banks got one back on her.
It was yet another even match between the champions of the two brands but after trading a series of near falls, and repeatedly attempting to roll each other up, it was Banks who finally came out on top, scoring her first ever pinfall victory over Asuka.
Commentary put over victory as a big push for Banks in her early run as SmackDown women’s champion. Asuka, meanwhile, will go back to a women’s division on Raw that has been primarily focused on the women’s tag team champions.
