WARNING: This story contains descriptions of violence and sexual assault that some readers may find disturbing.
Back in May, former WWE and Impact champion Alberto Del Rio/El Patron (real name Jose Rodriguez Chucuan) was arrested in San Antonio and charged with kidnapping and sexual assault. The details of the case are horrific, with the alleged victim restraining and abused for hours while Del Rio threatened violence against her son if she cried out. Del Rio’s actions were triggered by his belief the woman had been unfaithful to him - something she says was a recurring theme in their relationship.
Now, the Bexar County (Texas) District Attorney’s office confirms Del Rio has been indicted on one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault.
He’s scheduled to be arraigned today (Fri., Oct. 9). Once a trial date is set, the case will be prosecuted by the Family Violence Division in the 226th District Court. The DA’s office can’t comment while the trial is pending.
The aggravated kidnapping charge carries a minimum five year sentence, with the possibility of life in prison. Del Rio could get two to 20 years for the sexual assault charges. All carry a maximum $10,000 fine.
