What the best wrestling night of the week has in store for you on Oct. 21

AEW is coming off a big show (tonight’s one year anniversary special) and NXT is building to one (Halloween Havoc on Oct. 28), so neither announced a ton of stuff for their Oct. 21 cards during their Wednesday night broadcasts this week.

What they did book is pretty important to their tag divisions, though.

NXT champs Breezango are putting their belts on the line. The challengers were determined by a #1 contenders match on Oct. 14 - and a somewhat convoluted qualifying match booked by Fandango a couple weeks back. The important thing is that the Undisputed ERA duo of Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish advance through it all to get a shot at the stable’s fourth run with the Tag titles.

With FTR retaining their AEW Tag Team championship on Oct. 14, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler need new challengers. Dynamite will figure those out with a 4Way pitting Butcher & Blade, Dark Order’s John Silver & Alex Reynolds, Private Party, and the Young Bucks against each other. The winners - which I’d bet will be Matt & Nick Jackson, but AEW sure does like to make us wait for things sometimes, so who knows - will get their shot at the Top Guys at the Full Gear PPV on Sat., Nov. 7.

Next week’s Dynamite will also feature the start of the World title #1 contender tournament, Dr. Britt Baker in action, and MJF & Chris Jericho sharing a steak dinner.

Gotta love Wednesdays.
