Let’s predict the wrestlers who will go undrafted during night two of the WWE Draft

New, comments

Night two of the 2020 WWE Draft is taking place on tonight’s (Oct. 12) episode of Raw.

Night one of the draft included 20 draft picks made across four rounds on SmackDown television, which lines up well with how WWE conducted the draft last year. If WWE also follows the model from last year’s night two, then we will see 30 draft picks made across six rounds on Raw tonight.

However, the pool of eligible superstars who can be drafted tonight includes at least 40 potential selections. That means at least ten wrestlers from the draft pool for night two will go undrafted on tonight’s broadcast.

It’s worth noting that team members can be drafted individually, so it’s possible that more than ten names from the following 40 potential selections will go undrafted on television. For the sake of this exercise, I am going to keep things simple and ignore those scenarios.

With that out of the way, that means it’s time to figure out which ten superstars won’t make the cut.

First, here is the full list of 40 potential draft picks for tonight, per WWE:

  1. Andrade
  2. Bayley
  3. Aleister Black
  4. Alexa Bliss
  5. Daniel Bryan
  6. Carmella
  7. King Corbin
  8. Apollo Crews
  9. Nikki Cross
  10. Dabba-Kato
  11. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
  12. Elias
  13. Erik (of The Viking Raiders)
  14. Lacey Evans
  15. Charlotte Flair
  16. Jeff Hardy
  17. Billie Kay
  18. Lana
  19. Keith Lee
  20. Riddick Moss
  21. Natalya
  22. Titus O’Neil
  23. Randy Orton
  24. Kevin Owens
  25. R-Truth
  27. Matt Riddle
  28. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan)
  29. Peyton Royce
  30. Arturo Ruas
  31. Sheamus
  32. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
  33. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
  34. Braun Strowman
  35. Lars Sullivan
  36. Tamina
  37. Akira Tozawa
  38. Zelina Vega
  39. Bray Wyatt
  40. Sami Zayn

15 of these 40 selections stand out to me as automatic locks to be drafted. This includes most current champions, upper card mainstays, or wrestlers who are currently pushed or usually featured on television. I want to figure out who won’t be drafted tonight, so I am going to remove these 15 draft selections from the list: Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Daniel Bryan, King Corbin, Charlotte Flair, Jeff Hardy, Keith Lee, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Sheamus, Street Profits, Braun Strowman, Lars Sullivan, Bray Wyatt, and Sami Zayn.

That leaves me with these 25 selections:

  1. Andrade
  2. Aleister Black
  3. Carmella
  4. Apollo Crews
  5. Nikki Cross
  6. Dabba-Kato
  7. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
  8. Elias
  9. Erik (of The Viking Raiders)
  10. Lacey Evans
  11. Billie Kay
  12. Lana
  13. Riddick Moss
  14. Natalya
  15. Titus O’Neil
  16. R-Truth
  18. Matt Riddle
  19. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan)
  20. Peyton Royce
  21. Arturo Ruas
  22. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
  23. Tamina
  24. Akira Tozawa
  25. Zelina Vega

I have already used up 15 draft picks, which leaves me with 15 more picks at my disposal to use on these 25 possible selections.

There are plenty of mid-carders on this list who are solid bets to get television time, or have received somewhat recent pushes, so I am going to remove them next. This includes Aleister Black, Apollo Crews, Nikki Cross, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, Lacey Evans, Natalya, R-Truth, Matt Riddle, Riott Squad, and Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura. I’m holding out on RETRIBUTION for now because it is an anarchist group that is trying to take down WWE, which introduces questions about why either brand would want to draft them.

That leaves me these 15 names on the board, with five draft picks remaining:

  1. Andrade
  2. Carmella
  3. Dabba-Kato
  4. Elias
  5. Erik (of The Viking Raiders)
  6. Billie Kay
  7. Lana
  8. Riddick Moss
  9. Titus O’Neil
  11. Peyton Royce
  12. Arturo Ruas
  13. Tamina
  14. Akira Tozawa
  15. Zelina Vega

I need to draft five of these wrestlers. Carmella stands out from the pack right away because she is currently being featured in return vignettes, so I’m removing her from the board.

After that, Peyton Royce and Zelina Vega are rumored to either be receiving pushes soon, or at least highly regarded in the eyes of Vince McMahon. I’m taking both of them off the board too.

Based on recent television time, the next most likely stars to be drafted include Andrade, Dabba-Kato, Lana, RETRIBUTION, and Akira Tozawa. I can only choose two of these names. For some reason WWE has willingly signed contracts with the anarchist group that is trying to destroy the company, so I guess that means they’ll be drafted too. Maybe one of WWE’s executives is secretly a member of RETRIBUTION, right?

I was originally going to take Andrade with the last pick here, but the recent return of Lars Sullivan reminds me that Vince McMahon loves big dudes. So Dabba-Kato will make the final cut.

That leaves the following ten names as the unfortunate wrestlers who are most vulnerable to either going undrafted tonight or stuck in off air supplemental draft rounds, along with thoughts on each one:

  1. Andrade
  2. Elias
  3. Erik (of The Viking Raiders)
  4. Billie Kay
  5. Lana
  6. Riddick Moss
  7. Titus O’Neil
  8. Arturo Ruas
  9. Tamina
  10. Akira Tozawa
  • I really wanted to include Andrade on the list, and still think there is a decent chance that he makes it. Maybe Peyton Royce or Dabba-Kato won’t make the cut, or perhaps WWE will group Andrade together with Zelina Vega purely out of convenience for the draft. The most likely scenario might be RETRIBUTION pulling themselves out of the draft pool, leaving a spot open for Andrade. Finally, while I doubt that top stars like Flair or Bryan would be included in the draft pool if there were no plans to draft them, it’s at least possible that they will go undrafted due to being off television right now.
  • Lana stands out as another performer who receives regular television time, and I’m not sure why she isn’t listed in the draft pool as Natalya’s tag team partner. There is definitely potential for a last minute change where she is drafted alongside Natalya as one selection. However, if WWE keeps putting her through tables due to pettiness over her husband’s departure to AEW, then leaving Lana undrafted on television is a possibility.
  • Akira Tozawa is a mainstay in the 24/7 championship scene, but as we saw with Drew Gulak last week, someone in that position can be left to a supplemental draft round after Raw goes off the air.
  • Elias was undrafted on night one and then moved into the draft pool for night two. Would WWE really have him go undrafted on both nights? I’m really not sure what to expect from him or why WWE keeps including his name on these draft pools.
  • Arturo Ruas and Riddick Moss are the two Raw Underground names who are less likely to be drafted than Dabba-Kato. Shane McMahon’s underground fight club doesn’t seem to have any rules about who is eligible, so these two guys really don’t need to be drafted. If WWE has no plans to do anything with Dabba-Kato outside of Raw Underground right now, then he could also end up in this undrafted pile alongside his Raw Underground brethren.
  • It looks to me like Erik, Billie Kay, Titus O’Neil, and Tamina have the most difficult road to being drafted on television, so their sights should be set on post-Raw supplemental draft rounds.

That’s my best guess on which wrestlers will go undrafted on television tonight.

Now it’s your turn, Cagesiders. Let me know in the comments below how you see things playing out during night two of the WWE Draft. Which ten wrestlers will go undrafted on television?
