Lashley & Lana’s wedding officiant confused for fan, tackled by security

The twists and turns in the Lana/Rusev/Bobby Lashley/Liv Morgan storyline on Raw last night (Jan. 6) were pretty conventional.

Rusev visited the Colóns and taunted the newlyweds via green screen. He’s been successful in creating some cracks in the Lana & Lashley’s relationship, as evidenced by Bobby telling his bride to “shut up” so he could challenge Rusev to a match next Monday. Liv rolled up on an R-Truth interview to declare she’d be in The Bulgarian Brute’s corner for that, moving us one step closer to an inevitable mixed tag match.

But that doesn’t mean we were completely without ridiculousness in Oklahoma City.

After AJ Styles RKO-ed Akira Tozawa, security tackled a man who’d rolled into the ring as Raw was headed to commercial. The assumption was that this was a fan, looking to get some attention for the stupid and/or dangerous reasons that happens from time to time.

But it wasn’t. It was Rick Malone, the actor who plays Lashley & Lana’s wedding officiant. He was, perhaps a little before his cue, just rushing in to get set-up for the next segment. Before he could say “I now pronounce you man and wife” though, he was taken down.

Fortunately, everything got cleared up before anything worse than a ruffled suit happened. But not before fans caught it...

In kayfabe and out, this angle stays bonkers.

UPDATE: Malone posted another look at the incident on his Facebook, and a tongue-in-cheek explanation.

This is what happened tonight at WWE/RAW: I needed to get into the ring in order to consummate the “Bobby Lashley and Lana Wedding” (which was totally disrupted last Monday night in Hartford CT), but security prevented me, so I had no other choice but to dive into the ring headfirst. Security was not pleased! But the married couple was very happy! ❤️
