The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 26, 2020, at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (World) or SmackDown (Univesal) championship for the men, and either the Raw or SmackDown women’s title for the women.
We’re three weeks away from showtime, and the card currently looks like this:
- Men’s Royal Rumble match
As of yet, Roman Reigns is the only wrestler to declare for the match.
- Women’s Royal Rumble match
As of yet, Charlotte Flair is the only wrestler to declare for the match.
- Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal championship)
Daniel Bryan won a triple threat match over The Miz and Baron Corbin to earn top contender status.
- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka (Raw women’s championship)
Becky has been working for this for a while, saying she wants to avenge her loss from last year’s Royal Rumble.
That’s all that is official for the show so far. The Wrestling Observer has reported that Brock Lesnar’s next match is scheduled for this show, and one would think that means a WWE title defense, though the Observer also says that may not be the case. Cain Velasquez is also scheduled for the show, likely in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Bayley vs. Lacey Evans have also been rumored.
