WWE Royal Rumble 2020 results: Bray Wyatt gets revenge on Daniel Bryan

For their Universal championship match at Royal Rumble on Sun., Jan. 26 in Houston’s Minute Maid Park, Daniel Bryan wore his new eco-friendly t-shirt. For the first time, The Fiend wore the belt with his face on it around his neck to a match.

Then, for the first time in about ten years, they were strapped together for a strap match.

And there was no red light!

The challenger struck quickly at the bell, but Bray Wyatt countered with a powerbomb and the slow pace we’ve come to expect from Fiend matches told hold. This one was punctuated by Bryan being whipped with a leather strap.

The strap was integral to DB’s comeback, too, though. Once he had Wyatt reeling from a crossbody to the floor, he used it to pull the champ into the ring post multiple times.

A DDT on the announce table and a lot of lashing followed. But back in the ring, a running knee only led to The Fiend asking for more. Each man survived big moves from the other, and led to a cool spot where Bryan countered a Mandible Claw into an armbar - then a strap assisted LaBell Lock!

The Fiend powered out of that, and survived more besides. Finally, when Bryan and the crowd were starting to believe the power of the YES Movement might actually be enough, Wyatt rose behind him.

A choke slam with the Claw in place was more than even our boy D-Bry could overcome.

It was a familiar outcome, but it was a lot more fun getting there than past Fiend matches. But if Bryan and the power of YES (and a strap) can’t stop him, who can?
