WWE Royal Rumble is all set to pop off tonight (Sun., Jan. 26, 2020) from Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas at 7:00 pm ET, live on the WWE Network. You may also be able to watch this on pay-per-view (PPV) if your cable provider is carrying the event.

WWE ROYAL RUMBLE LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE
Never straight and narrow, I won’t keep in time. Tend to burn the arrow out of the line. Been inclined to wander off the beaten track. That’s where there’s thunder and the wind shouts back, but here, I’m just ready to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The pre-show begins with Jonathan Coachman welcoming us to the show and introducing his panel, tonight consisting of Christian, Charly Caruso, and David “A-List” Otunga. They run down the card for us and toss to the ringside interview squad consisting of Booker T, Sam Roberts, and Renee Young. Discussion of the matches ensues, with Natalya joining the panel for the women’s rumble.
Eventually we get an interview with Bayley.
She’s not really having it and says she gets it, Lacey Evans is a mom and a former marine that wants to inspire people and tell them dreams come true. Does that sound familiar? Been there, done that, and she’s a better role model than Evans could dream of, and she hopes her little brat daughter is sitting front row so she can see it first-hand.
We get a little more panel chat and then go to ringside for our first match.
Chad Gable vs. Sheamus
Gable in for a single leg but Sheamus shrugs him off, circling, Chad with a go-behind and again he’s slung aside. Looking for an armbar, clubbing it, but the Celtic Warrior clobbers him with a right hand and reverses to his own wristlock. Gable rolls through and flips out of it but Sheamus knocks him down. Headlock takeover gets a headscissors, same on the second try, Chad with a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block.
Reverse a reverse chinlock into a leg pick but Sheamus gets the ropes and breaks with a back elbow. Uppercuts in the corner, whip across, up and over, off the ropes, duck a lariat, Cactus Crossbody takes the action to the floor! Chad pressing the attack with forearms, a knee lift from Sheamus, throwing Gable back inside but the Olympian stays on him!
Looking for an ankle lock, the Celtic Warrior kicks him into the corner and posts-him shoulder first! Scoop and a shoulderbreaker! Stomping away on Gable’s arm, wrenching it over the middle rope and wishboning his fingers! Off the ropes, back elbow lays Chad out and he locks a kneeling top wristlock on as we take a quick break for a house ad.
Back to the action, Sheamus is working the hand again, bending Gable’s fingers back as far as he can. Chad fights to his feet and lays strikes in but the Celtic Warrior hits an armwringer and lays him out with a strike! Stomp to the arm, Gable bleeding from the ear and Sheamus goes back to the hand, wrenching away. Gable with clubs and stomps, trying to break free and going for a leg pick but the Celtic Warrior dumps him to the floor!
Stomp the rope when Chad tries to climb back in and he follows it with the Beats of the Bodhran! More clubbing blows on the floor, back inside, stomping away, pulling Gable up by his hair and this awakens the fire in the Olympian! Overhand chops, forearms on forearms, land on his feet on a back suplex and a dropkick takes the Celtic Warrior’s legs out from under him!
More overhand chops and forearms, backing Sheamus into the corner, rolling koppu kicks connect to face and shoulder! Stomps to the ankle, another rolling koppu kick knocks the big man down! Gable up top, moonsault... CAUGHT BUT HE REVERSES TO A TORNADO DDT! Back up top, diving moonsault... BUT SHEAMUS KICKS OUT! Thinking Chaos Theory, Sheamus blocks with an elbow, sidestep the Brogue Kick... CHAOS THEORY HITS ON THE SECOND TRY BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH!
Stepover shinbreakers, going to town on the Celtic Warrior’s leg but he’s able to snap Chad’s bad arm over the top rope and trip him up from the floor! Off the top... CHAD GABLE CATCHES HIM WITH A LEG PICK INTO THE ANKLE LOCK! Sheamus with upkicks to break the hold, going for the Brogue Kick... GABLE DUCKS IT INTO THE LEG PICK! HE’S GOT THE ANKLE LOCK AGAIN!
Celtic Warrior with upkicks and he gets the ropes! Chad with forearms in the corner, Carr counts him off and admonishes him and it’s enough for Sheamus to get a kick in! Going for the Irish Curse, countered into a crucifix pin... NO! Sheamus off the ropes...
Sheamus wins by pinfall with the Brogue Kick.
We get a little bit more panel talk and go right into our next match.
Andrade “Cien” Almas (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo (WWE United States Championship)
Shoving match to start, collar and elbow, Almas with a waistlock takedown, switches, back and forth, stalemate! Trading shots, boot into the corner, duck the elbow, Carrillo with a arm drag and then a slingshot arm drag! Cien on the floor, Humberto off the ropes, nobody home, kick from the apron but the champ blocks and sweeps his leg out from under him!
Trading shots, Carrillo pops him in the mush and lands a slingshot dropkick! Headed up top, Andrade shoves him off the top and face-first into the barricade!
We take a quick break for a house ad and Almas picks the legs for a stomp to the midsection and a sliding kick to the head. Headed to the apron, armbar over the ropes! Back inside, kneeling armbar, Carrillo fired up and throwing body blows but Andrade takes him back down into the full Fujiwara armbar! Back to his feet, body blows, wheelbarrow arm drag!
Cien back in control, hard forearm, trap him against the ropes, chop, whip across, springboard but Andrade counters! Deathlock the legs, roll him around, inverted La Campana applied! Humberto rolls through into a sunset flip, Almas kicks out, going for the Three Amigos but Carrillo lands on his feet. Back body drop, land on his feet again, diving crossbody... NOPE!
My cat throws up on the floor and I miss a few holds cleaning it up, back to the action, Carrillo has the corner knees scouted but gets back body dropped ot the apron. Springboard over the baseball slide... ASAI MOONSAULT! Back inside, springboard into a pin but Andrade reverses to a crucifix for two. Front chancery applied, Three Amigos but Humberto reverses the third to a suplex of his own!
Up top, moonsault, the feet are up but Humberto catches it in time! Schoolboy puts Carrillo hard into the turnbuckles, hard running knees... STILL NO! Underhook, Humberto reverses to a pin for two! Hard forearms from the champ, Carrillo gives ‘em back in kind! Andrade with more right hands but he runs into a superkick! Only two, slugging it out on their knees, both men spent and giving it their last ounce.
Off the ropes, ducking and dodging, neither man able to land a shot until Almas gets nailed by a back elbow from the apron! Up on the second, jockeying for position... CARRILO HITS AN AVALANCHE FRANKENSTEINER BUT ALMAS KICKS OUT! Jawbreaker from the champ, he slips out of a firemans’ carry, Humberto lands on his feet out of a suplex but Andrade is just a bit faster...
Andrade “Cien” Almas wins by pinfall with a schoolboy pin to retain the WWE United States Championship.
Back to the panels for more discussion, they’re interrupted by R-Truth trying to make his entrance into the royal rumble match.
Charlotte Flair is interviewed and says that last year she thinks she let her emotions get the best of her, she obsessed over it, and this year will be different.
The panel goes back to match discussion for a bit.
Kofi Kingston is interviewed about his entry into the Royal Rumble, for which he is very excited and looking for his ticket to WrestleMania. He and Big E are gonna be a team, and if they’re the last two guys, ring the bell, because they already won.
Thus closes out the pre-show.
The main show kicks off with a video narrated by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin about the importance and nature of the Royal Rumble match.
King Baron Corbin vs. Roman Reigns (Falls Count Anywhere Match)
Reigns attacks before Corbin’s finished his entrance! Brawling around ringside, in the ring for the first time and Roman hammers him with the punches in the turnbuckles! Fireman’s carry, Baron slips out and heads to the floor where he cuts Reigns off with a right hand. More brawling on the floor, Roman turns the tide, back inside, pressing the attack, Superman Punch sidestepped and Baron hits Deep Six... NOPE!
Back to the floor, more brawling, Corbin nails Reigns with the steel steps and takes the Spanish announce table apart. Dragging Roman over to it, the Big Dog turns the tide and Baron bails over the barricade and to the crowd. Reigns follows, they brawl in the crowd, Baron has control as they return to ringside and he chokeslams Roman on the German announce table... NOPE!
More brawling, Superman Punch countered... CHOKESLAM THROUGH THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE BUT THE BIG DOG KICKS OUT! Back out into the crowd, Corbin dragging Roman out deep and smashing him face-first into some road cases! Reigns takes charge again and Samoan drops Baron through what seems to be the Chinese announce table in the international announcers’ row!
A second Samoan drop through another international announce table... STILL NO! Baron rams Roman into the road cases again and crawls his way up into the technical area as Reigns follows. Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler were waiting in the technical area! The Usos make the save for their cousin! Roode and Ziggler take Jimmy Uso out, putting him through a road case!
They stretch a barricade across two cases but Jimmy comes diving out of nowhere to save his brother! CORBIN PUTS JIMMY INTO THE BARRICADE! Roman returns, Superman Punch! Over to the port-a-potties, The Big Dog puts Corbin into the walls a few times before opening one of them and throwing the Lone Wolf in! He slams the door on Baron’s face and pushes the portable toilet around... AND TIPS IT OVER!
Corbin comes out clean, miraculously, and Reigns gives chase after him, punching his way out to the dugout. Baron turns the tide and clobbers him with a steel chair! Atop the dugout, more chairshots... SUPERMAN PUNCH! SPEAR! IT’S OVER!
Roman Reigns wins by pinfall with the spear.
Backstage, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe are chatting about the Royal Rumble, and Joe reminds him that he stands with him against Seth Rollins, but in the Royal Rumble, it’s every man for himself.
Fire and Desire are interviewed backstage about the idea of being a tag team in the Royal Rumble.
Sonya Deville says if it comes down to just them, she’ll eliminate herself, because that’s how much her partner means to her. She leaves and Mandy Rose is lost in thought.
We get a memorial graphic for Kobe Bryant.

Immediately going for eliminations, up and over, back handspring from Belair, jockeying for position in the corner and Bliss hauls off with a huge slap! Bianca ain’t having it, block the titl-a-whirl, trying to eliminate her but she can’t so she just converts it into a backbreaker! Handspring moonsault, the countdown timer ticks...

Molly in hot, double lariats, she goes up top and fends off attempts to eliminate her before hitting a crossbody! Clubbing away, trying to eliminate Belair as the countdown timer ticks...

Cross in hot with a lariat on Holly, big forearm on Belair, teaming up with Bliss and they run roughshod on both women! Back body drops to the apron, Molly comes back in, scoop and a slam and Bianca hits KOD on Nikki! Trying to eliminate Cross, Alexa makes the save, Yoshi Tonic on Belair! She cuts a promo on her way to her entrance, talking herself up as the greatest ever. It’s a new year and she’s a newlywed, and she’s better than all us pathetic losers.

Backstage, Baron Corbin is interviewed.
He complains about Roman Reigns making “an absolute mockery” of their match by use of his “little henchmen”, so he’s gonna dump him in the Royal Rumble.
Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans (WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship)
Collar and elbow, Evans into the corner and she biels Bayley across the ring. In the other corner, smashing her head into the turnbuckles, another biel, cover for one. Handstand knee drops to the shoulder, cover for one again. Champ looking to take the turnbuckle pad off, referee Danilo Anfibio admonishes her and Lacey comes over to take the momentum for a moment.
Trip leaves Bayley clutching her knee in pain. Anfibio checks on her but it was a ruse and she clocks Evans with a hard right! Flapjack into the corner, climbing up top, diving elbow... NOPE! Choking her challenger over the ropes, reverse chinlock applied, snap suplex, back to the chinlock. Lacey fights out with elbows, tilt-a-whirl headscissors, but again the champ wrestles her to the mat with a reverse chinlock.
Cover for two, clubbing away, off the ropes, back elbow connects for another two count and she mounts her for punches to the face! Back to the reverse chinlock again, shoving Evans into the corner when she starts to struggle. Drop toehold puts the champ into the turnbuckles, pass Lacey to the apron where she lands a hard knee, slingshot into a schoolboy pin, only two!
Uppercut connects, mock salute, diving crossbody but nobody’s home! Striking away, short-arm kick to the midsection, arm wringer, running knee and Evans is fired up! Senton de la Muerte connects, slingshot dropkick and Evans post back inside for a hard lariat! Bayley to the floor, plancha misses and the champion puts Lacey into the barricade right in front of her daughter!
Clubbing blows, putting her back inside, but Evans hits a swinging neckbreaker and a standing moonsault! Headed up top, double jump moonsault but Bayley gets the knees up...
Bayley wins by pinfall with a lateral press and a handful of tights to retain the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE Universal Championship Strap Match)
Bryan in with forearms, chest kicks, but Wyatt gets a powerbomb off! The American Dragon fighting back into it, finding that inner reserve of strength, firing himself up and getting to his feet! Circling, Lynch with a front chancery but Asuka slips away from her. Asuka with a waistlock, Becky reverses, side headlock takeover, headscissors counter. Both women down, Anfibio issues the standing ten count and they both manage to rise! Slugging it out, duck the uraken, trying for Dis-Arm-Her but Danilo gets sandwitched in the corner! Going for the mist but Becky hits a rolling solebutt and grabs Dis-Arm-Her...
Becky Lynch wins by submission with Dis-Arm-Her to retain the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
