Man, Edge can’t even talk about his Ten Club membership without getting hit with questions about coming out of retirement to wrestle again for WWE.
The Rated R Superstar probably should have expected it, agreeing to be a guest on Live On 4 Legs: The Live Pearl Jam Experience podcast right before Royal Rumble. Seems like he might have been, since he’s got a ready answer when it comes up 30 minutes into almost an hour of talking PJ:
“It’s kind of funny to me, honestly. All of these rumors happening that I’ve been to Pittsburgh, and I’ve been cleared to wrestle again, and I’ve signed a new contract, and I’ve this. And I have no idea where any of it came from. The last time I was in Pittsburgh I had my wrist fused in 2013. I don’t know. I don’t know... I haven’t been there. I haven’t signed a contract. I think I would know.
I get this tsunami of comments saying ‘You’re coming back! You signed a contract!’ I really haven’t. ‘Oh yeah, that’s what you’d say.’ I’m like, okay, whatever.”
As someone who has and will probably continue to think ‘Oh yeah, that’s what you’d say,’ I’d tell Edge that part of where the rumors came from was his spearing Elias at SummerSlam and then going on his own podcast to declare he could have a match tomorrow.
But I’ll try to take his word on it. I wouldn’t be shocked either way, since Edge’s schedule of movies, TV and child care (with Beth Phoenix doing more WWE work as part of the NXT announce team) don’t leave much time for training for a comeback match. But he’s had time to get and stay ripped, so...
