NXT hasn’t said when they’ll hold the finals of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament yet, but if they want to put them on the card Royal Rumble weekend at Jan. 25’s Worlds Collide show in Houston, they’ll be able to.
With the first round wrapping up on tonight’s episode, they announced both semis will take place next weekend. It’s quite possible we’ll end up with a final which fits right into the NXT vs. NXT UK theme of Worlds Collide, too. But if they do tell us the match is taking place on that show, Jan. 22’s winners become clear.
On one side of the bracket, we’re getting The Broserweights vs. Imperium. Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne outlasted Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster in Full Sail tonight, and the “why not?” team gets Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel as a reward.

On the other, former NXT UK Tag champs Grizzled Young Veterans ruined the Time Splitters reunion, and move forward to face current NXT Tag champs Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly of Undisputed ERA.

The issue with putting the winners of those matches opposite each other at Worlds Collide is that Aichner, Barthel, Fish & O’Reilly are already in the Undisputed vs. Imperium eight-man tag main event. So if the finals are in Houston, they’ll probably see Dunne & Riddle go up against Zack Gibson & James Drake. Which wouldn’t suck!
We’ll see how it all shakes out next week.
