With their first live episode of the year came the return of NXT’s weekly Injury Report video on YouTube.
The black-and-gold brand has a lot of events to build to over the next several weeks. Even though it only features two names, Matt Camp’s latest could have ramifications for all of them.
NXT UK Women’s champion Kay Lee Ray has a title defense this Sunday (Jan. 12) at TakeOver: Blackpool II. She’s vowed to work that match against Piper Niven & Toni Storm despite the shoulder injury she reportedly suffered at Full Sail this week. The Scot being at less than 100% could pave the way for a Storm win, which would make the just announced match between the Aussie and NXT Women’s champ Rhea Ripley at Rumble weekend’s Worlds Collide a champ vs. champ affair.
The other item could serve to hype either that show in Houston, a future Wednesday show, or possibly even Feb. 16’s TakeOver: Portland. They haven’t told us when the finals of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will take place. But telling us about an injured Forgotten Son (Wesley Blake - who’s both a former Tag champ and was a Dusty finalist last year) is a good segue into hyping future matches in the tournament.
Here’s this week’s video, and a list of what was covered:
- Kay Lee Ray (refused medical attention) - shoulder
- Wesley Blake (going for x-rays) - left foot
