Women’s title, Finn Bálor matches added to Worlds Collide

On the latest episode of NXT, Toni Storm was one of several wrestlers to show up looking for a fight with new Women’s champ Rhea Ripley. The former NXT UK Women’s championship rivals definitely seemed to set-up a match for Worlds Collide on the eve of Royal Rumble. There was a little confusion because Toni wanted it to be title for title, but that requires her to win back the UK belt this Sunday at TakeOver: Blackpool II.

WWE’s gone ahead and eliminated any confusion, announcing that Storm vs. Ripley will happen Sat., Jan. 25 in Houston whether Toni is UK champion or not. The Nightmare’s NXT strap will definitely be on the line.

Of course, Storm could be holding the UK title by Monday morning. And another contender for Rhea’s belt will be determined next Wednesday in a battle royale. The presumption is Jan. 15’s winner will get their shot at February’s TakeOver: Portland.

McKenzie Mitchell also announced another showcase match for NXT UK’s Ilja Dragunov. The young Russian made a splash at TakeOver: Cardiff when he battled Cesaro. In Toyota Center he gets another huge opportunity when he battles Finn Bálor. The Prince also looks to have a date in Portland on Feb. 16, as he challenged Johnny Gargano to a TakeOver match two nights ago.

These join the already announced eight-man main event. Here’s the latest official line-up:

  • Imperium (WALTER, Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) vs. Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly)
  • Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Toni Storm for the NXT Women’s championship
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Finn Bálor
