System. Shocked.
After a successful debut, NXT on USA came back down to Earth a little in terms of TV ratings. Posting 1.179 million viewers last Wednesday, the Sept. 25 episode of the black and gold brand slid down to 1.006 million viewers.
In the ever important 18-49 demographic, NXT fell from fourth to eighth place on Wednesday night with a 0.32 share. Breaking it down even further, NXT had 0.56 rating share for their debut among males, but checked in at 0.40 this week.
The number one show among the 18-49 year old demo remained American Horror Story on FX.
To put this into perspective, the final SmackDown to air on USA drew in 2.099 million viewers. The lowest SmackDown has hit over the past six months has been 1.83 million viewers on the Apr. 30 episode.
For comparison’s sake, TNT (home to AEW Dynamite) aired a replay of the live action version of Beauty and The Beast that drew in 678,000 viewers.
Here’s a breakdown of NXT viewership through two weeks:
- Sept. 18 (one hour on USA): 1.179 million
- Sept. 25 (one hour on USA): 1.006 million
Is NXT just forming their baseline on Wednesday nights? How many viewers will AEW Dynamite and NXT on USA split next week when they go head to head?
