Just picturing Vince McMahon bombarding Triple H with stream of emojis and memes via text message.
Last night was a win for WWE and in particular Triple H as well as the NXT brand. In the ring the action delivered, while as far as TV ratings go, NXT hit it out of the park.
After NXT’s debut on USA, Triple H held a conference call with members of the press. When asked if he had received any advice or words of encouragement from WWE’s Chairman and CEO, Triple H gave a brief peek into what it is like to have McMahon as both your boss and father-in-law.
“I received a bunch of texts from him throughout the day. You know, excited, and excited to see it, and wishing us luck especially as it got close. You know, he was sending me little texts counting me down, ‘20 minutes!’ Which I thought was great. It was just fun.
Then he sent me a few texts after the show. He watched the entire thing. I’m sure he was at the office, probably in a meeting while he was doing it. But he enjoyed it, he loved it. He thought the talent did a hell of a job, and thought they knocked it out of the park. You know, he was excited. He sent me a massive congratulations after it was over, and was thrilled with the product.”
Triple H would add that McMahon embraces the differences between brands and compared it to certain people liking different types of music.
All and all this sounds like good news for fans fearful of McMahon getting too involved in WWE’s third brand. Will Vince McMahon pay closer attention to NXT once AEW begins airing for two hours on TNT every Wednesday night?
