Of course Baron Corbin is King of the Ring.
A 16 man tournament that began in August, the King of the Ring tournament finals concluded this week on Raw when Baron Corbin took on Chad Gable.
In order to get to the finals, Corbin had to defeat The Miz, Cedric Alexander, and win a triple threat over Samoa Joe and Ricochet. While Gable got past Shelton Benjamin, Andrade, and Shane McMahon to win the SmackDown side of the bracket.
Pitted as a David versus Goliath match-up, Corbin dominated the majority of the action against Gable.

Corbin dominated the match from the onset and then WWE doubled down on that strategy. Gable was down and out so many times during the King of the Ring finals.
Even during a huge rally by Gable, Corbin took every single shot his underdog opponent threw at him. Despite locking in a deep ankle lock, dead center of the ring, Gable could not finish off Corbin.
The six foot eight inch heel would crawl his way to the ropes and shutdown Gable’s last hope for an upset. Moments later Corbin halted another Gable comeback attempt with an End of Days.

This was a really great match; probably the best of both Corbin and Gable’s main roster careers. Corbin is hated by most, but he earned this King of the Ring finals win.
