For weeks now, The Miz has been talking about restoring prestige to the Intercontinental championship. In his eyes, that meant winning it from Shinsuke Nakamura at Clash of Champions from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He did not.
The other, much bigger story here was Sami Zayn aligning with Nakamura as the most annoying mouthpiece in all of professional wrestling. He was out in full effect for this match too, literally commentating it with a live mic until said mic was cut. Then he was a distraction that allowed Nakamura to gain an advantage. Then, worse, he outright cost The Miz the match by keeping the referee occupied after a Skull Crushing Finale.
When Miz had enough and chased him around the ring, he ran right into the Kinsasha. It was academic from there.
Nakamura is still your Intercontinental champion and The Miz’s no good very bad 2019 (in kayfabe, at least) continues.
