SummerSlam gets a kickass Kickoff match*

* Not officially, but we’d bet several Canadian dollars Oney Lorcan & Drew Gulak’s Cruiserweight title match is on the pre-show Sunday.

With nine other matches official, and something likely to result from the ongoing Roman Reigns mystery, the Cruiserweight title match booked for SummerSlam on 205 Live last night (Aug. 6) will probably end up airing on the two hour Kickoff show which starts at 5PM Eastern on Sun., Aug. 11.

But you know what? Who cares? Not me, a wrestling fan looking forward to a slobberknocker between champion Drew Gulak and Triple H’s strong-style utility man Oney Lorcan. And certainly not the Philadelphia Stretcher or fka Biff Busick.

Danny Burch’s Brit-Am-Brawlers partner won the right to face Gulak when he pinned former Cruiserweight champ Tony Nese in the purple brand’s latest very good main event match:

Gulak’s held the strap since he took it from Nese at Stomping Grounds. Since then, he’s put down everyone General Manager Drake Maverick’s put in front of him. Will the Star Destroyer end his reign at Scotiabank Arena?

We’ll find out. Here’s the full SummerSlam card as it currently stands:

  • Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal championship
  • Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston (c) for the WWE title
  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Natalya for the Raw Women’s championship in a Submission Match
  • Ricochet vs. AJ Styles (c) for the United States title
  • Bayley (c) vs. Ember Moon for the SmackDown Women’s championship
  • Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon; Owens’ WWE career ends with a loss
  • Oney Lorcan vs. Drew Gulak (c) for the Cruiserweight title
  • Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair
  • Finn Bálor vs. The Fiend (aka Bray Wyatt)
  • Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler
