Here's a place to check results and comment along with NXT UK’s TakeOver: Cardiff live WWE Network special - happening Sat., Aug. 31, 2019 at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena.
It’s taken eight months, but Triple H’s newest brand is having their second TakeOver! All of three of their titles will be on the line, including WALTER representing Imperium as defends the United Kingdom belt against the first man who held it, Tyler Bate. NXT UK Women’s champion Toni Storm deals with a challenge from Kay Lee Ray, and Grizzled Young Veterans, the only team to ever hold NXT UK Tag titles, have a Triple Threat against Gallus and Welsh lads Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster.
Plus a Last Man Standing match between big boys Dave Mastiff & Joe Coffey, and a grudge match pitting Travis Banks against Noam Dar. And probably a surprise (Cesaro!) or two.
The show will stream live on WWE Network. The opening bell is scheduled for 2PM Eastern.
We'll update the results as they happen, and feel free to use this space to discuss all the action with the best pro wrestling community on the internet - before, during and after the show.
- Noam Dar def. Travis Banks via pinfall after Nova Roller
- Radzi Chinyanganya interviews Cesaro backstage, and the Swiss Superman says he doesn’t care who answers his open challenge. Ilja Dragunov walks by and snorts at him. The red-eyed Russian hits the ring, get a mic and says “Cesaro, I’m waiting!” It’s on!
- Cesaro def. Ilja Dragunov via pinfall after a Neutralizer; Cesaro returns to the ring and sizes Dragunov up for another European uppercut, but ends up offering his hand. They hug, and the veteran offers some encouraging words. This was awesome.
- Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews def. Gallus (Wolfgang & Mark Coffey) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) to become the NEW NXT UK Tag Team champions, winning via pinfall after Andrews hit Fall To Pieces on Gibson as he was covering Webster; this was crazy, finally ending after Gibson pulled the referee out of the ring to save his partner, allowing the GYV to hit Ticket to Mayhem. But when Drake dove to take out Gallus, Mark recovered from being hit in the throat to hit the finisher and pull his partner onto Liverpool’s #1.
- Joe Coffey def. Bomber Dave Mastiff in a Last Man Standing Match; big beefy hoss fight as expected. They did a spot where an Irish whip of Coffey by Mastiff broke the top turnbuckle. They brawled all around the ring with all kinds of plunder. After they fell off the stage through two tables, both men were almost up before a ten count, but Coffey kicked a travel case into Bomber’s knee, causing him to fall back down.
- Kay Lee Ray def. Toni Storm to become the NEW NXT UK Women’s champion, winning by pinfall after a pair of Gory Bombs. The crowd is stunned, and Storm is shown crying at ringside while the Scotswoman celebrates.
- WALTER def. Tyler Bate to retain the United Kingdom championship, pinning him after a clothesline ended a 40 minute WAR. The champ poses with Imperium on the ramp, and Trent Seven & Pete Dunne are out help Bate to the back as the Welsh crowd cheers for him.
