No surprise here, except maybe that it took this long to announce (or that they didn’t just go ahead and wait until SmackDown to break the news).
WWE champion Kofi Kingston will face Randy Orton at Clash of Champions on Sun., Sept. 15 from Charlotte, North Carolina. The two went to a double countout at SummerSlam earlier this month, and Orton & his new allies The Revival took out The New Day last Monday before Kofi returned fire by attacking The Viper on Tuesday.
WWE’s teasing a response from Orton on the blue brand tonight (Aug. 27). The promotion for Clash of Champions indicates all the main roster belts will be defended there.
Here’s an updated look the card for next month’s pay-per-view (PPV):
- Seth Rollins (c) vs. Braun Strowman for the Universal championship
- Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley (c) for the SmackDown Women’s title
- Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode for the Raw Tag Team championship
- Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston (c) for the WWE title
