Ticket sales were reportedly not great for WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden for Mon., Sept. 9’s Raw and Tues., Sept. 10’s SmackDown. And the quick fix solution to that is announcing special appearances by major names.
We saw it when Undertaker was announced for the blue brand show - complete with a confusing bit of “history”, as it will be the first time the Dead Man has worked a SmackDown taping in the iconic Manhattan venue. Now, Raw is getting their marquee attraction.
From WWE.com:
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be on hand to raise some hell when Monday Night Raw comes to New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 9.
It’s not clear whether Austin’s appearance will be for television or a treat for the live crowd only at “The World’s Most Famous Arena”. But either way, the news seems deserving of a “hell yeah”, right?
UPDATE: The Garden has tweeted an ad for the appearance, and Austin commented, putting over his history there and expressing how excited he is to return:
I cannot believe it has been so long. Time flies by. The Garden is home to many of my favorite moments in my career. @BretHart in #survivorseries @undertaker in #summerslam #highwaytohell and stunning @VinceMcMahon for the very first time. Along with many others.
