His appearance at Raw Reunion was a home run from every perspective, and his new show “Straight Up Steve Austin” premieres on USA Network at 11PM eastern tonight (Mon., Aug. 12). So it’s not too surprising WWE found a way to get Stone Cold back on the flagship for the SummerSlam fallout episode.
Having him review Seth Rollins’ big Universal title win over Brock Lesnar from last night’s pay-per-view (PPV)? Sure, why not. If you’re a wrestling fan, you almost certainly like hearing the Rattlesnake talk wrestling. WWE has fully committed to Rollins as the (baby)face of Raw, and Austin will likely join Bret Hart in putting over the Architect.
The weird thing about this? Stone Cold will be Skyping in to the show. As my man Kyle Decker joked, “he’s calling into Raw like mothers called their kids at college students 10 years ago”.
Here’s the announcement from WWE.com:
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin to weigh in on Seth Rollins’ SummerSlam showdown against Brock Lesnar via Skype
“What?!”
One day after Seth Rollins slayed The Beast to recapture the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will give his reaction to the epic showdown tonight via Skype.
Don’t miss The Texas Rattlesnake’s unique new half-hour reality series “Straight Up Steve Austin,” premiering tonight immediately after Raw on USA Network!
At least if the connection is bad, fans at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena will have a good reason to break out Austin’s most infamous catchphrase.
Late updates to the official preview for tonight also include a match which was considered for SummerSlam - Drew McIntyre vs. Cedric Alexander.
