WWE SummerSlam 2019 results: Trish Stratus loses to Charlotte Flair in her farewell match

So long, Trish Stratus.

For now, at least, and maybe forever.

Trish told reporters in the lead up to SummerSlam tonight (Sun., Aug. 11, 2019) at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that her match on the show, against Charlotte Flair, wouldn’t represent a comeback so much as a farewell.

It didn’t go nearly as well as many likely hoped.

It started like this:

Which looks a lot like two people going through a series of spots they worked out beforehand and are working together to execute. From there, it looked like Charlotte doing her best to carry Trish to a good match while the crowd remained completely silent for large chunks of it.

They got back into it when they went to the near falls, and Charlotte did as much as she could, considering, but the match suffered from the near complete lack of build to it.

Trish used the Figure Four to try to submit Flair — though her shoulders were down for a damn 10 count and the referee never bothered with it — and then hit Stratusfaction for a two count. A Chick Kick after a chop off also got a two count. Charlotte followed this up with a boot and the Figure Four that she bridged into the Figure Eight.

That’s when Trish tapped.

It ended much better than it started, at least, and the live crowd gave it a “this is awesome” chant at one point. They also chanted “Thank you, Trish” at her as she gave them a curtain call.
