NXT has put a bow around its TakeOver: Toronto live event from Scotiabank Arena as the promotion wrapped up the show tonight (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) with Adam Cole surviving an hour long three stages of hell war with Johnny Gargano to retain his NXT championship.
Was it the best match on the card?
Cole’s mates didn’t leave draped in gold, but they were in some good matches. Street Profits bested Undisputed ERA in the now obligatory barnburner of a Tag Team title opener, and Roderick Strong had the North American championship won in a Triple Threat were Velveteen Dream ended up getting the pin on Pete Dunne. The women’s matches represented well, too, with Io Shirai making her former friend Candice LeRae pass out, and Women’s champ Shayna Baszler getting creative to make Mia Yim tap out.
