The Rock makes an interesting pick for WWE’s next big star

Well actually, it does matter what his name is.

No matter how famous The Rock gets in Hollywood, at the end of the day he’s still a huge fan of pro wrestling. In New York City to promote his new film Hobbs & Shaw, The Rock was asked a pro wrestling question by TMZ.

As far as TMZ’s ‘shove a camera in a celebrity’s face and ask rambling questions’ style of interview goes, this was an interesting question. The Rock was asked who he thinks WWE’s next big star will be.

“Let’s see, you know, I’m not quite too sure. I just know that a lot of guys obviously are working very hard. I spent a lot of time with Roman, just now spent the past week with him and we were talking about everybody who has potential and who doesn’t. Personally, I like Drew McIntyre. I think he’s got a great look, a great build, and especially as he continues to hone in on his craft and connect with the audience, which is always the most important thing. That’s it.”

Good for Drew McIntyre.

Since coming back to WWE in April 2017, McIntyre has had a good but not great run in both NXT and the main roster. Down in NXT The Scottish Psychopath went on to become NXT Champion before his run was cut short by a torn biceps injury.

Upon joining the main roster in April 2018, the 34-year-old has won the Raw tag team titles with Dolph Ziggler, while winning as many big matches as he has lost. Another thing McIntyre has going for him is that he works really well with Roman Reigns, and it sounds like both The Rock and The Big Dog endorse his skills.

Agree with The Rock’s evaluation? When will Drew McIntyre become one of the top guys in WWE?
