It’s been just over a month since Rey Mysterio was forced to relinquish the United States championship due to a shoulder injury he suffered during a match against Samoa Joe at Money in the Bank back on May 19. The belt went back to Joe, who has since lost it to Ricochet and moved on to a program with Kofi Kingston and a WWE championship match at Extreme Rules next Sunday night.
Time flies, huh?
Shortly after he relinquished the title, Mysterio made clear he was hoping to be back by late June or early July. Now we know he hit that mark, as WWE has announced he will make his return to television on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Newark.
The timing is interesting, considering this will be the go home show to Extreme Rules, where the current U.S. champion, Ricochet, doesn’t currently have a match scheduled. He’s been feuding with AJ Styles, however.
There’s always room for one more, though.
Right?
